Years of activity:
Marco D’Annibale was born in Nettuno  (Rome) in 1957.
His passion for luthery came from his love for music. He started playing guitar as a boy experiencing various musical genres and distinguishing himself in the study of classical guitar.
After various experiences as a self-made guitar maker he moved to Milan to improve his knowledge of traditional luthery and to carry out researches on the masters of the past at the “Civica Scuola di Liuteria”.
In Milan he met M° Aldo Illotta with whom he soon established a relationship of friendship and collaboration. In fact his staying in Milan was spent between the study at the school and the work in Illotta’s laboratory.
In 1999 he took part in the “International Luthery Prize” of Baveno (Italy), deserving the third place in the acoustic test with a copy of a 1890 Torres guitar.

His guitars are all hand made respecting the fundamental rules of traditional luthery without utilizing modern industrial machines, from the gauging of tops, backs and sides to the making of all other components such as  necks, bridges, binding and purfling channels and purfling rosette channels.
In fact in his search for original past techniques he utilizes only his own handicraft tools, this is the reason why he only produces few exemplars per year.
All Marco D’Annibale’s guitars, inspired by M° Antonio de Torres and M° Herman Hauser traditions, are finished with French polish technique and have a warm and immediate sound.

“I played Marco D’Annibale’s copy of a 1890 Torres’guitar.
I found it very interesting as a reconstruction of an instrument representing a great historical value for guitarists.
The result was really excellent."
